Answers

Do people really pay you to scoop dog poop?

Absolutely! Our customers range from 20-somethings to seniors; families who would rather spend their time enjoying a safe and clean yard than scooping it are grateful for the freedom we provide.

Seriously…?

Think of it this way – we’re just like a lawn mowing company, only instead of lawn mowers we use a rake and a bucket :-)

Why should I go with Poop 911 instead of have my spouse/neighbor kid/company X do it?

I’m sure your spouse loves the chore, the neighbor kid appreciates the extra few bucks, and company X is probably great! Check out why you should still go with Poop 911 here.

What if I want to DIY?

Fair enough! If you’d like some free insider tips just send an email to tulsa@poop911.com with “5 Pro Tips” in the subject line.

How much does it cost?

Our service depends on the number of dogs and how often we come out. One dog, once per week is $9.95. For an automated quote with no personal info necessary, go ahead and click here.

How does your billing work?

All 300+ of our customers are set up with a credit or debit card on file. Each time we come out we just run the card for the cost of that individual visit, then you’ll receive an email receipt letting you know we were out and that your card was run.

I don’t know. I don’t like giving out my credit card information…

Completely understandable. We’ve been in business for over 5 years and have over 300 customers in Tulsa and OKC. We have an A-rating with the Better Business Bureau and even won a Super Service Award from Angie’s List. We’re the member of multiple local chambers of commerce, and all of your payment information is stored securely with gold-standard encryption using our online payment processor Element Payment Systems (www.elementps.com).

Why can’t I just pay by check?

We’ve automated our system to make it 100% hassle-free and paperless. Unfortunately, that means we don’t accept check payments. If security is your main concern, we recommend using a prepaid debit card – they’ll work with our system just like a regular credit/debit card, but it won’t be linked to your bank account.

Did I see your sign at such and such intersection?

Probably not. Most of those yard signs on public property (called “bandit signs” in the biz) are actually illegal (Tulsa City Ordinance). Since we deal with sensitive payment information and are planning to be in business for the long-term, we try to stay on the right side of law :-/

Do I have to be home when you come?

Not unless you wanna be. Our scoopers are highly-trained at opening and CLOSING gates. Every home we go to has dogs so we know that keeping your pup safe in the yard requires closing the gate behind us. We’ll even leave a little note on your door or in your mailbox letting you know we’ve been there.

Can you call me when you’re in your way?

Sure! Your scooper will definitely call before your initial visit to introduce himself or herself, and if you’d like us to call before every visit, just let us know.

What if I need to skip a visit or cancel my service – are there any penalties or contracts?

Absolutely not! With Poop 911 there are no contracts or prepayments of any kind. You’re free to skip or suspend service at any time for any reason with just a simple call or email.

What if I’m not happy with my service?

We’re human, so occasionally we do screw up (read about one here). Luckily, we have a 100% unconditional satisfaction guarantee so you don’t have to pay for our mistakes. Just shoot us an email or give us a call and we’ll do whatever it takes to make you happy again (like here) – be that a complimentary follow-up scoop, refunding your visit, or both. We’re in this relationship for the long-haul and we’d much rather bend over backwards to fix our errors, than dig our heels in the Oklahoma red-dirt and charge you for something you’re not completely satisfied with.

What do you do with the poop when you’re done with it?

Toss it in your neighbor’s yards and leave a business card :-P Not really… About 75% of our customers have outdoor trash cans and have no problem with us leaving it in there (in a sealed biodegradable trash bag). If you’re one of the 25% who would mind, we’d be happy to take it away instead (it’s just heavy so it costs us extra in gas and dumpster fees).

Isn’t dog poop fertilizer/compostable/etc?

Absolutely not! Unlike cows and sheep, dogs diets are high in protein so their poop is very acidic and can kill grass. Likewise, every pup has tons of bacteria and many parasites in their poop – using it as fertilizer or putting it in compost poses serious health risks and is highly discouraged by the CDC (link).

Do you clean your tools between yards?

Definitely! We figured out a long time ago that potentially spreading disease among our customers yards was not good for us or them. We use a sanitizing bleach spray that’s recommended by the American Veterinary Association as parvocidal and effective at killing most harmful canine pathogens.

Can I choose my day of service?

We’re very lucky to have many customers and skilled team members who live all over Tulsa and OKC. If, due to your location, we can’t fit you in on your preferred scooping day, we should at least be able to get close :-)

How did you come up with the idea to scoop poop?

Funny story (Ch 6 in 2010) – basically, when I came down to OK from Nebraska to go to TU, my parents hired a scooping company in Omaha. I was like, “well, if they’re willing to hire somebody in Omaha to do what I did for free for 18 years, I wonder if anyone in Tulsa will hire me…” Sure enough, some people did. And the rest, as they say, is history…

Do people REALLY ask this many questions?

One person – not likely. But in 5 years I’ve heard each of these questions at least a few dozen times…
Back To Top…

Can my dogs be out when you come?

Sure! We love friendly dogs :-) Just keep in mind that how your pup acts with you and your family may not be the same way he acts with a stranger (your scooper) walking into your yard uninvited when you’re not home. The safety of our team is our #1 priority any time a potentially dangerous situation arises – bites are bad news for everybody (scooper, customer, pup, etc) so we’ll do everything we can to prevent one, including leaving a yard if we fear a potential altercation. That being said, most dogs are great and we love getting to interact with them every chance we get :-)

Are you a franchise or are you locally-owned?

Actually, we’re both! Tulsa/OKC Poop 911 started out as “Hurricane K-9 Waste Removal” in 2008 and then converted into the Poop 911 family in 2010. In 2011 we expanded to include service in the OKC metro. We now have stand-alone operations in both cities run by our Team Leaders, Mike and Bill, and locally-owned by Jon Wood.
